No burden is too big to bear for this little dream team – Nintendo, that is. Turning up the heat on the Switch’s 2020 lineup, they’ve confirmed rumors that Pikmin 3 is coming to the Switch on October 30th in a new, Deluxe version.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe will include all DLC stages from the original release, plus new side quests with Olimar and Louie, as well as the ability to play the entire Story mode in co-op.
Taking a step closer, we have lock-on targeting, difficulty options, and optional hints to keep things accessible for younger players, or those who want a more relaxed experience. There’s also a new competitive “Bingo Battle” multiplayer mode.
The teaser trailer features everything that shot Pikmin 3 to critical acclaim back in 2013: photo-realistic nature made perfect use of the Wii U’s HD capabilities – and thankfully, the in-game camera returns in the Nintendo Switch version to capitalize on it.
Pikmin 3 introduced Rock and Flying Pikmin for the first time; combine these cute newcomers with the ability to split your party, and suddenly we’re left with a recipe for creative multi-step puzzles. The Wii U gamepad was put to great use here, acting as a map and a means of relocating your party; it will be interesting to see how the Switch allows players to manage their adorable horde in a similarly seamless way.
