Before I was a Dad, I was a child

How could anything compete with the summer of 1991? As a wide eyed 4 year old, crossing the English Channel from Calais to Dover by ferry, returning home from 6 weeks in the south of France, that was the only question in my mind. Well, that and why do my innards feel like they may soon be my outtards…..

My parents had obviously anticipated this exact scenario, and after a sulky car drive down a cascade of A roads, back to the place I called home for so many of my adolescence years, I can still to this day remember walking into my Living room, eyes wide with curiosity as my parents remarked that I should open the pristinely wrapped box on the coffee table.

Hence began a love affair of epic proportions.
